Spring Shrub Planting Tips

Shovel and a shrub to be planted

Planting shrubs can be a breeze when you follow a few simple steps:

  • Choose an appropriate spot for the plant, either sunny or shady with well-drained soil.
  • Dig a hole twice as wide and no deeper than the root ball.
  • Gently loosen the roots, position the shrub, and backfill with soil, lightly tamping it down to reduce air pockets.
  • Water thoroughly post-planting.
  • Add a layer of mulch for moisture retention.
  • Regular watering, especially during the establishment phase, coupled with a touch of fertilizer, promotes healthy growth.
  • Keep an eye on your shrubs the first couple of years to ensure they receive about an inch of water per week either from you or Mother Nature.

Soon, you’ll have a thriving addition to your landscape you can enjoy for years to come. Ready to grow?
