Primroses are some of the most cheerful (and eye-catching!) signs of spring, with bright, five-petaled flowers in various spectacular colors. Some will also have a beguiling fragrance. As a houseplant, we pop them on a cool windowsill to cheer up the kitchen or office on a gray late winter day. In the garden, these beauties are cherished by bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects as an essential source of nectar. They are hardy, long-lived, great for naturalizing, and perfect for containers or garden beds.
